Be part of our pilots

We’re running pilots across the UK, exploring how we repurpose BT Group green street cabinets into EV charge points, and what it takes to address the lack of chargers nationwide.

But we need your help. By taking part in our pilots and sharing valuable feedback you’ll help us understand more about the process to convert the cabinets and the EV charging experience.

If you’re a local authority interested in taking part in our pilots get in touch with etc.charge@bt.com

Powering up

We’ve powered up our first EV charging unit repurposing a street cabinet traditionally used to store broadband and phone cabling.

This marks the first step in the rollout of new technical trials, exploring the potential to upgrade up to 60,000 cabinets to tackle the current national shortfall in EV charging infrastructure.

Why us?

With extensive infrastructure already in place, we have cabinets located in areas where driveways and EV charge availability is low. Our aim is to bring reliable, convenient and accessible EV charging kerbside for everyone.
